I am so grateful that I had Minsink! It introduced me to the American Songbook which has been the source and continues to be the source of so much pleasure.

I am so glad I found this site. I often talk about my experiences at Camp Minisink. I was there in 67 & 68. I was just humming one of the songs the other night. What wonderful memories. I must say that Camp Minisink was a big part of youth. As I am typing this message, I am going back to that time. A time when things were simple.Well, I am a successful black woman who lives in Charlotte NC. Thank you Camp Minisink.

Hello to all my TAP sisters and brothers. It's been a long time and the tears are starting to fall. I remember those days along with growing up in Harlem like it was yesterday. Well I may not be good at remembering names, I do remember those faces. I remember ironing in Thornie's house. I remember Adahee and Talahee, I think those are the correct spellings (smile). My sister (Pam) and I went every summer during August (4 weeks) and came home right before school started. I am so glad to find this site. I live in Houston now, but last summer I went home to the Harlem Week celebration. Wow, ran into some highschool classmates and wondered about all those I had a chance to meet, learn from, and share in one of the most important times in my life, Camp Minisink. It has been many years and I am not sure if I was in TAP 64 or 65, but I will always remember the experience. What a great website. We're TAP, TAP-WINGO forever!!!!!!

TAP'61 REUNION: A Blast & Pledge to Send a Kid to Camp Minisink Tap'61 met at Londel's Supperclub in Harlem on December 9th to celebrate our 45th Anniversary. It was such an exciting evening to see so many of our Sisters and Brothers after so many years. Pepper and Phyllis who traveled the furthest came from Maryland. In addition to the Maryland Tap Sisters, Beth,Gail,Charlette,Jackie,Yvonne and Kathy were there.Tap Brothers present were Donald , Everett and Tap'61 counselor Michael Hatchette. Jimmy Fisher(Tap'58),Hannibal(Tap'62)and Lenny Morris(Feather'58) came out to support and enjoy the evening. Along with the fun, drinks, good food and pictures was a surprise jazz set from Norman Person(Tap'63) and his quartet including Courtney Bennett(Tap'92). Tap'61 and the others present, decided to make an annual contribution to The Minisink Spirit,Inc.,a group of former campers, Taps and Feathermen who have been sending kids to the original Camp Minisink for several years ,but lacked adequate funding. The group felt that something needed to be done and it was long over- due. Big fun had to come to an end and of course we briefly sang a Minisink song-"The Rock Island Line" as well as remembered and recited our Tap poem---- "ATTAINMENT".
